Employment prospects

  • Indian students with an F1 Visa can work on campus for 20 hours a week and full-time during semester breaks. 
  • Students with F1 visa status can apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT). OPT is employment authorization that allows students to work in the area of their specialization for 12 months after completion of an undergraduate degree and 24 months after completion of a postgraduate degree. 

Visa requirements

Visa requirements (F1 student visa)- F1 is the most popular visa type opted by Indian students, it allows them to study at universities certified by Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). Subsequent to graduation, students with F1 visa status can apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT) for 12 months after completing an undergraduate degree and 24 months after a postgraduate degree. The eligibility of your application will depend on enrollment at a SEVP approved institution, English language proficiency, availability of sufficient funds for tuition fee and living expenses and a valid passport.
